Rabbi ShapiroPresent Rosh Yeshiva: HaRav Avraham Shapiro shlit”a

HaRav Avraham Shapiro shlit”a, Rosh Yeshivat Merkaz HaRav, is one of the most prominent and outstanding Torah scholars in our generation.
HaRav Shapira, combines the singular ability of a great rosh yeshiva with the authority of a posek - one who is acclaimed and widely consulted on some of the hardest issues facing the Jewish world to-day: questions of status, especially among the new olim; gitin and kidushin; kashrut and Eretz Yisrael. HaRav Shapira has served in Rabbinical courts for over forty years: as a dayan, the head of the bet-din in Jerusalem, a member of the High Rabbinical Court and finally the President of the High Rabbinical Court. During the years 5743-5753 (1983-1993) HaRav Shapira held the high office of Chief Rabbi of Israel.
Besides his shi’urim, HaRav Shapira is known to all the students as one whose heart is always open to them. Answers to questions of Torah and law, advice and encouragement in personal or community matters, are always to be found.

R' Tzvi YehudaHaRav Tzvi Yehuda HaCohen Kook zt”l

The 15th Anniversary of his passing - 14th of Adar 5742

HaRav Tzvi Yehudah HaCohen Kook of blessed memory, the son of HaRav Avraham Yitzchak HaCohen Kook, was an outstanding scholar and personality in his own right. HaRav Tzvi Yehudah, as he was widely known, was Rosh Yeshivat Merkaz HaRav for close to fifty years. He oversaw the revolution that took place as the young students from the “new yishuv” as it was then called, the “kipot haserugot” started going to yeshivot. Merkaz HaRav, under Tzvi Zvi Yehudah opened the doors before these young boys, and changed the course of history. Students of Merkaz HaRav, many of them pupils of HaRav Tzvi Yehudah, haven taken their places in the very front in almost all fields: the Rabbinate, education, settlements, industry and politics.
HaRav Tzvi Yehudah devoted his life to the Yeshiva and to the spreading of his father’s teachings and ideas. HaRav Tzvi Yehudah took it upon himself to publish the father’s writings, spending years on each book until it was ready for print.
HaRav Tzvi Yehudah inspired thousands of people with his vision of am Yisrael attaining the most sublime degree of shlemut as the geulah proceeds in Eretz Yisrael.

The discussions and lectures of Rabbi Shaul Yisraeli, the late co-head of the Yeshiva and a pupil of Rabbi Kook, served as a magnet to the student community. Rabbi Yisraeli was formerly the Rabbi of Kfar HaRoeh, a former member of the Rabbinical Supreme Court, and finally a member of the Council of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.
